Fugro HelmertDuring the coming weeks all remaining works will be finished. On 8th of August 2013, after completion of all final tests and trials, the vessel will be handed over in time to Fugro OSAE GmbH in Bremen.

In November 2011 Fassmer Shipyard and Fugro signed the contract for the 40m “Fugro Helmert”, a new Offshore Survey Coastal Vessel for hydrographic and geotechnical tasks in worldwide operation. Fassmer Shipyard was assigned to design and build the vessel in a period of 20 months.

Design / construction:

The vessel is designed for very low underwater noise excitation for hydrographic purposes working in following offshore survey market segments:

  • Hydrography
  • Renewable Energy
  • Light Geotechnical work
  • Environmental baseline survey
  • Monitoring and inspection
  • Route Survey
  • Site Survey
  • Pipeline inspection

Kongsberg Maritime scope of supply to this high sophisticated survey vessel includes a Dynamic Position System Class 1 (DP1) with class notation Germanischer Lloyd and various sounding equipment placed in a specially designed blister in the keel section area. This includes the middle water EM710 multibeam system, as well as the latest generation of shallow water multibeam system EM 2040. For underwater positioning and ROV operations a Kongsberg HiPAP 500 is installed. The Kongsberg Seapth 330+ supplies highly accurate motion, heading and positioning data.

All data from sounding are collected and processed in the instrument room, data processing room and office server room. All selected and processed data can be transferred via VSAT worldwide.

The new vessel is operated by Fugro OSAE GmbH in Bremen. The first survey job will be a cable route survey from Spitzbergen, followed by a survey project out of Trondheim, Norway.
