Hamburg/Drammen, March16, 2007 - SAM Electronics of Hamburg and Valmarine of Drammen, Norway, two companies within the Power Controls Systems Group of L-3 Communications, have established a formal partnership agreement under which they are to jointly extend and consolidate collaborative worldwide marketing of their respective navigation and automation systems for installation aboard special ships such as cruiseliners, LNG tankers and offshore vessels.
Both companies are already acknowledged market leaders for design and supply of advanced integrated navigation and automation systems for the world cruiseliner market in particular. SAM Electronics' NACOS series of navigation command systems features radar-controlled trackpilots, ECDIS and other state-of-the-art sensors while the current version of Valmarine´s modular Damatic™ automation system, DNA, offers advanced HMI (human machine interface) solutions for both operators and maintenance personnel based on significantly improved levels of functional availability and processing power.
The partners are committed to the future implementation of a common product operation philosophy for complex integrated ship control systems. Such systems will feature not only navigation and automation sub-systems, but also those for ships safety and ships security.
