With a focus of quality and performance, MacGREGOR will deliver cargo handling cranes for new container feeder contracts at Wenchong shipyard, China.
The MacGREGOR Group’s Crane division has secured an order for 48 shipboard container handling cranes from the Wenchong Shipyard in China. The contract is worth approximately €17 million and the cranes will be delivered shipset by shipset between early 2009 and early 2012.
The cranes have been specified for twelve 2,800 TEU container feeders for undisclosed interests. Each vessel will be geared with three wire luffing GL-type cranes and one cylinder luffing LC-type crane located aft. The wire luffing cranes are rated at 4528.2/4030.8 and the cylinder luffing crane at 3527/3029.5.
Co-operation between Wenchong and MacGREGOR started in the 1990s and MacGREGOR, together with its Chinese manufacturing partner CSSC - Nanjing Lüzhou Machine Company Ltd, has delivered more than 140 cargo handling cranes to the yard over the years.
“We have been working closely with the Wenchong shipyard for 15 years and it makes us proud to announce that our expertise can once again be called upon for this important project,” says Kenneth Mellin, sales manager, MacGREGOR Crane division. “With our partner Lüzhou Machine Company, we will make sure that we fulfill the yard’s expectations in terms of quality and performance.”
