Hamburg, 05/08/2009 - Imtech has been awarded the contract by ARGE EGV 702 2nd lot consisting of the companies Flensburger Schiffbaugesellschaft mbH & Co.KG, Thyssen Krupp Marine Systems AG, Fr. Lürssen Werft GmbH & Co. KG and Peene Werft GmbH for fitting out the third Taskgroup-Supply-Vessel (Type 702) with HVAC and NBC-Protection systems. Within the scope of the contract Imtech is responsible for a package comprising the engineering, construction, supply, assembly and commissioning.
The third Taskgroup-Supply-Vessel of the type 702 is scheduled for delivery by 2012 and is designed to supply a mixed Taskgroup with logistical items (fuel, provision, ammunition, etc.) as well as with medical support. With a length of more than 170 meters and a displacement beyond 20,000 tons the type 702 are the largests vessels of the German Navy. To a large extend the technology is based on commercial vessel standards.
Imtech has acquired extensive experience in the construction and fitting out of naval vessels. Three frigates of the type F124 already carry Imtech systems. Also the four frigates of the type 125, which are scheduled for delivery by 2017, will be equipped with Imtech Systems. In addition, in the UK Imtech is currently involved in the construction of the two new Queen Elizabeth class aircraft carriers for the British Royal Navy. Imtech is also installing HVAC systems on a corvette for the Polish Navy.
