Beschreibung
Professor Günther Clauss is Dean of Faculty V "Verkehrs- und Maschinensysteme" at the Berlin University of Technology.
Professor Günther Clauss´ early scientific career was in the field of aerospace engineering where he gained his Ph.D. He moved fields in 1974, to ocean technology, when he was appointed to the chair of Ocean Engineering at the Institute of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering (NAOE), Berlin University of Technology. From 1991-93 and 1996-97 he served as Dean of the Faculty of Transportation Systems and Applied Mechanics.
He was Head of NAOE until 2000, and promoted the foundation of the new Institute of Land and Sea Transportation Systems. Dr. Clauss published more than 150 papers on wave mechanics, wave/structure interaction, offshore construction, pipelining, oil skimming systems etc.
With his colleagues E. Lehmann and C. Oestergaard he wrote the book “Offshore Structures” (Vol. I: Conceptual Design and Hydronamics, Vol. II: Strength ans Safety for Structual Design). He has been working with various ITTC and ISSC committees ans is a Fellow of RINA as well as a member of SNAME and of the German Society of Naval Architects STG.
